I traversed the county during my childhood with my geologist father.  Moving 10 times by the time I finished high school, I learned to appreciate a variety of people and places. As a youth I was determined to find a field that allowed for both creativity and logic. I started my studies with Industrial Technology then Architecture and finally settled on Architectural Engineering.  I was drawn to both electrical/lighting design and construction management, but electrical won me over. Of all the states I lived in, California’s weather couldn’t be beat. I began my career with several small firms in San Francisco, worked with Habitat for Humanity on an East Coast building blitz, and was then introduced to The Engineering Enterprise in 1989 and have never looked back. 

One of my favorite pastimes is watching the University of Kansas Jayhawks play college hoops.

What I love about this field is the chance to continually work with new teams on new projects and on a myriad of engineering aspects in an ever-evolving technological world.  There is never a dull moment!  With each project there is always some unique challenge which reminds me what I love about engineering.  Achieving successful solutions with the design and build teams gives me a great sense of accomplishment and seeing the tangible results of our shared efforts is especially rewarding.

I love being a part of such a great company that hires dedicated staff, promotes growth, and encourages each employee to pursue the area they are most passionate about. I take pride in knowing we do our best to take good care of our wonderful staff, allowing flexibility, social interaction, enhanced benefits, and more.  We like to think that a happy, healthy employee is a productive one. 

I am most proud of the family my husband and I built over the last 30+ years.  We have two awesome adult children who are now making futures for themselves and have rescued many, many lovely dogs, and cats through the years. We continue to dream up construction projects to help keep us active.

Of all the amazing projects I have been a part of, my favorite to date is the Sutter Medical Center in Castro Valley. The entire design and construction team joined in a Big Room several days a week pretty consistently throughout the 5-year, IPD, OSHPD project. Great ideas were hashed and appreciation for each other’s expertise was apparent. Creating a laser focus on a shared vision resulted in a beautiful new hospital, which came in on time and within budget.  The comradery and building of life-long friendships were an added bonus.
